Naveen Patnaik is an influential Indian politician and the current Chief Minister of Odisha, serving since March 2000. Born on October 16, 1946, in Cuttack, Odisha, he hails from a prominent political family. His father, Biju Patnaik, was a revered leader and a former Chief Minister of Odisha. After completing his education in history at Delhi University, Naveen moved to the United States, where he worked with the renowned New York-based company, The New York Times. His foray into politics began after the demise of his father in 1997, leading him to enter the political arena. He founded the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in 1997, a regional party named after his father. Naveen's leadership saw the BJD quickly rise in popularity, and in 2000, he secured his first term as Chief Minister. Over the years, he has been re-elected multiple times, making him one of the longest-serving Chief Ministers in India.
